Saturdays
Feburary 11, 1-3, Session 1-
- 1-2 pm Act Development, Character Work
Using theatre methods we'll discuss how to create an act and use several
excercises and techniques using hands, eyes, body movement and expression
to draw in your audience and create a character.
2-3 pm Advanced Costuming (Drop-In,
$15, cash)
How to take them off and how to make them so you can take them off.
Examples will be brought in, resources will be shared and design and
construction will be discussed. Students will then spend time outside
of class designing and shopping.
We'll also talk about music choice.
Homework: Find music, shop and work on costume (and if
you came to the class with music, a costume or other starting pieces for
your number, less homework for you!).
February 18, 1-3pm
Session 2-
- 1pm-2 pm Take It Off! (Drop-In, $15,
cash)
Bring your costume pieces if you've got any, or just a dress that will
come off over your hips (not your head!), a bra (with a bra underneath
if you're shy), and anything else you'd like to learn to take off (corsets,
coats, anything)!
- 2-3 pm Props & Chairs (Drop-In,
$15, cash)
Props and chairs can be used to enhance an act, but the right chair
and well built props are essential. We'll talk about construction, purchasing
and how to gracefully incorporate them in to an act.
Feb 19-24, Session 3-
Individual Workshop Sessions
Prescheduled 30 minute sessions to help whip your act into shape!
February 25, 1-3pm Session 4-
- 1-3 pm Class Presentation
Everyone will present their numbers in whatever
state they are in. This is a chance to workshop and get feedback
from the group. We'll also talk about how to handle costume malfunctions
or other problems onstage, what to do about stage fright and other tips
to help your performance be the best it possibly can be.
